10 Reasons to Buy (and Love) the Eufy RoboVac 30

This past Christmas my in-laws gifted our family a eufy RoboVac 30.  And it has changed my life.  Sounds kinda crazy, doesn’t it?

But, it has.  Sure my eufy RoboVac has done the obvious and taken some cleaning pressure off me.  BUT it has done so much more.

Who knew I'd find a new love? Best gift ever! Perfect solution to help busy families regain free time. #eufyvacuum #cleaninghacks #busylifesolutions

But First, Who is “Eufy”?

Before I start gushing over my newest cleaning tool, let me tell you a bit about eufy. According to their website, eufy builds “easy-to-use smart home devices and appliances designed to enhance your life”. eufy manufactures four different types of robotic vacuums as well as home security cameras, scales, and light bulbs.

Eufy is part of a larger company, Anker Innovations, which makes even more home electronics, including home security systems, entertainment projectors, speakers, and chargers.

You might already rely on and trust products manufactured by eufy and its parent company.

Eufy RoboVac’s Popularity

Apparently we aren’t the only family on the block that has a eufy RoboVac.  These vacuums are found in over 600,000 homes around the world.  They rank as all-time “Best Sellers” on Amazon.com.

And the average homeowner seems to be satisfied with their purchase. As of July 2019, there were about 4,300 reviews for the RoboVac 11S and a combined 2,000 reviews for the RoboVac 30 and 30C on Amazon.com. And these vacuums averaged a high 4.5 stars out of 5 in satisfaction.

Eufy’s Industry Reviews

Not only is eufy recommended by the average homeowner, it’s created quite a buzz in the industry.  Eufy vacuums have been recommended by USA Today and Consumer Reports, and won accolades and awards by Reviewed.com and House Method .  In 2017, eufy unseated the popular Roomba from its 5-year recommended streak conducted by the New York Times.

Types of Eufy Vacuums

Eufy makes a variety of robotic vacuums, but its best sellers are currently the RoboVac 11S and RoboVac 30C .  Here’s the latest and greatest pricing on Amazon (sorry for the formatting, I just can’t get it to look right!)

Eufy RoboVac 30C Features

We have the RoboVac 30C, which is an upgrade to the 11S.  It’s very similar to the RoboVac 11S, but has a few extras such as:

  1. Boundary Strips to set up “no clean zones”
  2. Slightly increased suction power (1500 Pa versus 1300Pa),
  3. Wi-Fi, Amazon Alexa, and the Google Assistant-compatibility which means 100% hands-free cleaning.

1. Boundary Strips

Of these three upgrades, my favorite is the Boundary Strips.  Eufy RoboVac 30C has specialized sensors that detect these Boundary Strips to ensure it only cleans the areas I want.  We currently use only one boundary strip, at the entrance to the kid’s playroom.  There is just no way I can guarantee that every toy will be picked up off the floor every time I run eufy and give it a path through the toys to sufficiently clean.

2. Wireless Capability

Admittedly, I don’t use the wireless capabilities on our eufy Robovac.  I am not known for my techy savvy skills.  I”ma simple gal – I just push the big button on top of the vacuum.

And that’s OK, because others in my household do use this capability.  My husband is more into the latest gadgets and gizmos, and a big fan of wireless capability and remotes.  He uses eufy’s wireless capabilities and finds them relatively easy-to-use.  His only complaint is that the Home button can be confusing at first.

3. Increased Suction

The eufy RoboVac 30C has 1500Pa versus the 1300Pa of the eufy RoboVac 11S.  Since I don’t have both vacuums, I can’t compare how this 15% increase in suction translates to my floors. Considering the price point of these two models is around the same, more suction power can’t be bad, right?

Why Do I Need Eufy?

We have 3 little children and a dog.  I can’t keep up with the mess.  You see, our house is dirty.  Crazy dirty. Dog hair, crumbs and general crud everywhere. I swear that Pig Pen from Charlie Brown lives here, even though I don’t see him.  (Although I’m pretty sure he’s hiding under the couch….)

My days are a never-ending rotation of picking up, cleaning up, or organizing something.  There is seemingly never enough time to clean plus work on other projects needing to get accomplished.

And it’s not like I live in a huge McMansion to clean.  My house is only 1,700 square feet, about 500 square feet less than the average home (source: US Census).

I’ve tried numerous tricks to reduce dirt, grime, and pet hair entering my home, such a;

  1. Implement a no-shoe policy.  My toddlers are already trained to remove their shoes as soon as they walk through the door (trust me, that was a painful to teach).
  2. Door mats located outside AND inside the house.
  3. Brushing the dog every other day outside to minimize pet hair (even when 10 degrees out! Brrrr!).
  4. On my carpets, applying a baking soda-based carpet cleaning powder like OxiClean Pet Fresh to loose dirt and pet hair
  5. For the hardwood, run the Swiffer after vacuuming to gather even more dirt and pet hair.

Whew!  No wonder I’m tired.

I was so excited with how well eufy RoboVac cleaned my floors on Christmas day, I texted a pic of me and our RoboVac name "Blu" to my in-laws. #bestchristmasgift #meandeufy #vacuumreview
I was so excited with by how well eufy cleaned my floors on Christmas day, I texted a selfie with “Blu” to my in-laws.

Enter eufy.  She (yes, according to my 6 year-old daughter she is a girl) is perfect for maintenance cleaning.  And her name is “Blu” after the color of her button.

Don’t get me wrong. She hasn’t completed replaced my other traditional vacuum. eufy doesn’t do stairs nor reach certain areas, like behind the couch, or in certain crevices, like around our coat tree.

But in the few months that she’s been with us, this tiny robotic vacuum has proven her weight in gold in making our house cleaner. And with less effort on my part.  I’m in love.

So, without further ado, here’s the 10 Reason Why I Love teh eufy RoboVac 30C.

Reasons to love eufy Robovac #homeowneropinion #lesscleaning #findmoretimeforyourself #roboticvacuum

1.    Eufy Lets Me Multitask

Pop quiz. If I told you that I could vacuum and load my dishwasher simultaneously, you’d either:

  1. Be impressed (and hate me just a little bit); or
  2. Think I’m lying.

Well, if you answered A you’re correct! (Shame on you if you thought letter B!)

Even right now, I’m sitting at my dining room table writing this post, feet up while eufy effortlessly gliding under them and sucking up the morning crumbs dropped from my children’s cereal bowls.

How fantastic is that?

2.    Eufy Increases Family Time

Of all the reasons to love eufy, this is the best one. eufy makes life simpler and free up your time so that you can go do what you truly want.

And what do I want to do with my free time? Trust me, it’s not onerous day-to-day cleaning. It’s spending time with my husband and 3 little girls.

Eufy is delegated to focusing on the floors while I focus on my loved-ones.

eufy runs in the background while I spend quality time with this cutie

How can I not love eufy?  It lets me spend my valuable time where I want to be.  For example, my oldest daughter Emma (pictured here) has a half-day of school on Wednesdays once a month. On these afternoons, while her younger twin sisters are napping, we sit at the dining room table and do a craft or project while eufy zooms around us doing its thing. Just the other day we made hair bows from a kit her grandmother bought her for Christmas. I love these Wednesdays. Too soon she will be a teenager and want to spend those half-days with anyone else but her mom. But right now, she wants to be with me. And I don’t want to miss a minute of it.

Quality one-on-one time with this little cutie. How better can life get?

3.    Eufy Motivates Tidiness

In order for eufy to run appropriately, all the clutter needs to be brought up off the floor.

My in-laws gifted us a RoboVac for Christmas and it was the BEST gift! It' changed my life and freed up time in so many ways. #reducecleaningtime #eufylife #roboticvacuum

We find that running eufy twice a day on our main floor (i.e. during naptime and bedtime) usually keeps up with general floor maintenance.

So right before these times, there is the incentive to tidy up the house.  Toss the toys into the playroom, round up dog toys, arrange furniture that’s been moved (my kids love to move my dining room chairs!?!?!

Before eufy, I ran my traditional vacuum once a day. And honestly, I only tidied up right before that one vacuum. Not that the house couldn’t use a pass-through with the vacuum twice a day. I just couldn’t sike myself up to both tidying AND push a vacuum.

Housework is so much easier to motivate and complete when chores are divvied up. I tidy, eufy cleans. I love teamwork!

And the result? My house is so much more livable and enjoyable now that I tidy up twice a day.

As a side note, I’m determined to fully tidy up and ensure eufy has a clear path every since I read the Dad’s story of Roomba hitting dog poop.  YUCK!  I can’t even imagine.

4.    Eufy Loves Pets

Meet Dulce Maria aka “Sweet Mary”.  She’s is the sweetest-natured, best family dog you’ll ever meet.

We love our dog Dulce, but she sheds like there is no tomorrow! One of the reasons we love our robotic vacuum #sato #doghair #vacuum #easycleaning
We love our dog Dulce, but she sheds like mad!

She’s a Sato (“island mutt”) from Puerto Rico.  We adopted her in April 2016 as a companion for our oldest daughter.  Doctors had just told us that we wouldn’t be able to have any more children. (By the way, two month later I found out I was pregnant with twins – DOH!)

Dulce was about 10 weeks old and 10 pounds when we brought her home.  She was originally found on the side of the road in Puerto Rico and shipped up to a shelter outside of Boston, MA (where we live).  While no guarantees, the shelter said that she’d likely be about 30-40 pounds and wouldn’t shed.  I was in love.

Fast forward 3 years later.  Dulce currently tips the scales at 75 pounds.

Oh, and did I mention that she also sheds like mad?

I’ve never seen anything like it.   Hair everywhere, collecting on our clothing, furniture and carpets.  Before eufy, if I missed a day of vacuuming, I’d cringe looking at all the dog hair that had accumulated on the floors.

But eufy.  She’s not scared.  Instead, she inhales pet hair like a kid on Halloween with a full sack of candy

5.    Eufy Lulls Me to Sleep

Right before going upstairs to bed for the night, my husband and I make sure that the first floor is tidied.  We need to ensure our buddy eufy has a clear path!

As I lie in bed unwinding from the day and trying hard not to dwell on all the tasks not crossed off my to-do list, I hear a pleasant whirling sound coming up from the first floor.  It’s the sound of my eufy, hard at work sucking up crumbs and general crud accumulated throughout the afternoon.

The sound of eufy comforts and calms me.  She puts a smile on my face, knowing that tomorrow morning when I roll back downstairs a clean, crumb-free floor will be waiting for me.

6.    Eufy Goes Where Needed (and Nowhere Else)

Unlike my children, this vacuum goes where I want it to go, and more importantly, doesn’t go where it shouldn’t.

Its slim design (well, at least someone in the house has a slim design!) allows it to get under beds, side tables and couches. In other words, it can easily reach places where I no longer can since I stopped doing yoga many moons ago.  And using its side brushes, it gets into the corners, and all the nooks and crannies of my house considerably well!

eufy comes with a boundary strip that you can cut and place to create a barrier, stopping it from cleaning certain areas.  That might sounds counter-intuitive. Why wouldn’t you run eufy everywhere in the house?

Messy playroom blocked off from robotic vacuum by magnetic strip that stops vacuum from entering room #messyroom #playroom #toyroom
Our messy playroom. Boundary strip in doorway (front of pic) stops eufy wandering into this chaos.

Well, meet our sun room, a.k.a. the playroom a.k.a. the place where we throw all the toys. It’s easily the messiest room in the house.  How could it not with 3 little monsters (oops – I mean kids)?

eufy runs through our house once, sometimes twice a day.  There is no way I can keep this playroom completely picked up for eufy to adequately do her job. So we laid a barrier strip at the entrance way to the playroom so that the rest of the house can be vacuumed with worry that eufy could make a wrong detour into the land of toy chaos and get eternally lost.

7.    Eufy Puts Itself Away

When eufy is done cleaning the house, or feeling a bit tired and needs a recharge, she automatically returns to where she belongs (i.e. its charging base).  Finally, something in my house that can put itself away!  If only I could program my children to do the same and put away their toys.

As a side note, I wish I was programmed that when I was tired that I would automatically go somewhere for a recharge.  Like a spa?  Or the local bar for a margarita?

8.    Eufy Tells Me Exactly What’s Wrong

My twins are currently 2 years old. Audrey has a early knack for language and communicates quite well.  Madison is going at a slower learning pace and needs a bit more help with communication.

So when Madison gets hungry, angry, sad, tired, it’s a guessing game.  And it’s a game with no winners. It’s the same ending, with her throwing a temper tantrum.  While I don’t want to rush their 2-year old cuteness, I wish she could just find her words and tell me what was wrong.

eufy, on the other hand, tells me exactly what’s wrong.  Clearly labelled on her belly is her Holy Grail describing the meaning for the various beeps she emits to inform me when something isn’t copacetic.

And when mommy knows immediately exactly what’s wrong, then she can fix it, right?  Now if we could just convince Madison of that….

9.    Eufy is Fun for the Whole Family

When the makers of eufy developed their robotic vacuum, they probably had no idea that cleaning the house would turn into a fun family event.  My 6-year old daughter Emma actually asks for the responsibility to turn “Blu” on.

Wait. WHAT?!?!?  My child WANTS to clean?  I have yet to see this level of enthusiasm over other household chores.

True, turning on a vacuum and letting it run isn’t exactly cleaning. But I use this interest as a learning opportunity and remind her to clean up after herself.

And, it’s also peaked her interest in engineering.  She’s fascinated by how it works.  Where the dirt goes? How does it sucked in there? Why are those wands circling? How does it know where to go?  Whew! Lots of questions. I feel like I’m stuck in an episode of Bill Nye Science Guy (who I loved as a kid).  I love this kid’s curiosity.  eufy – I’m currently raising a future engineer for your staff. Keep an eye out – she’ll be forwarding her resume in about 18 years.

10.  Eufy Makes Me a Happier Person

If Mommy isn’t happy, then nobody is happy.  Am I right?  This vacuum does the work so that I don’t have to.

Before eufy I vacuumed every day.  Sometimes twice a day.  I detest vacuuming. It’s monotomous, laborious, and downright boring.  Oh, and did I mention that it’s a complete time and energy-suck?

Sure, the pay-off for a clean floor.  But in my house, that lasts about 5 minutes.  I turn around and BAM!  Dirt, dust, crums, crud and Lord knows what else all over the floors.  How does that happen????  It grates on me.

But that’s changed with eufy.

After the kids are asleep, it’s a treat to sit and relax on the couch. Spend some quality time with my husband or watch tv (or do both), with my feet up.  And from the corner of my eye I see it working hard so that I don’t have to.

That makes this homeowner and mom to a full house of messy kids and shedding dogs very, very happy. So thank you eufy. You have make my hectic life a tad simpler and cleaner. And for that, I am grateful.

  1. Great article! This summer we got an Ecovac and love it! I love it so much we got a second one to have upstairs. It is a dream to have the floor clean at least once a week or daily if I wish. We have a cat that sheds like crazy. Plus, like you said the kids always make a mess. I’m a twin Mom too! I have an older daughter and identical twin boys!

    1. Holly – thanks for reaching out! Glad you enjoyed the article – it was a fun one to write. I’m indebted to my in-laws for buying one for us. My husband and I had been thinking about buying one, but couldn’t justify the price. But now that I have one, I see they are worth Every.Single.Penny. This little robotic vacuum is a life saver – especially for we busy twin and fur-baby moms!
