I’ve received a bunch of questions from homeowners ever since I published one of my most popular posts How to Install a No Dig Fence (Lowes Grand Empire XL). One of the most commonly asked questions is – Where Can I Buy No Dig Fence Panels?
We bought our no fig fence panels at Lowes. I love it – and happily give it a glowing review. Made by Yardlink Fences (previously Ironcraft), I love the durability and style. But I know that not every homeowner wants the same style as ours. (And there’s a LOT more style on the market than there were 3 years ago!) So this post dives into the available options in 2023 for no dig fence panels.

What Are No Dig Fences?
No dig fences are growing in popularity due to their ease of use, increased durability and stability due to advances in design, and affordability (among other advantages).
But what is a no dig fence? A no dig fence has an innovative design that doesn’t require augering and cementing of posts. Instead, the fence is secured by merely driving spikes deep into the ground through hammering and pounding.
There appears to be two types of no dig fences – some are truly temporary (meant for frequent movement), but this post focuses on more permanent no dig fences.
Based on an online review, I found these 3 manufacturers of no dig fence panels. As you read below, they range in style, cost, and availability.
- Yardlink
- WamBam
- Zippity
1. Yardlink / Ironcraft
Yardlink offers almost a dozen styles of no dig fence panels (referred to as “Decorative Fence” on their website). Yardink offers fences in a variety of materials – Welded Steel, Cedar, Chain Link and Vinyl – which are available at several different retailers, including Lowes, Home Depot, Amazon, and Walmart.
Welded Steel No Dig Fence Panels
When we bought our no dig fence panelsa few years ago Yardlink (then part of a sister company called Ironcraft) only carried the Empire fence series, which comes in 3 sizes. We bought the Grand Empire XL fence (pictured below) through Lowes.
- Empire: 29.2 in H x 36 in W
- Grand Empire: 40.3 in H x 48 in W
- Grand Empire XL: 45 in H x 54 in W
Vigoro No Dig Fence
Home Depot has an answer to Lowe’s Empire’s no dig fence panel series with these two options.
These two fences are marketed under the Vigoro brand, but through web research it appears that the fence may actually be ultimately manufactured by the same company that also owns Yardlink. Honestly, may it is, maybe it isn’t. I can’t figure it out. But then again, as homeowners, does it matter? As we need to know is that it is the same materials, installs the same way, and is close in price.
Cedar Wood No Dig Fence Panels
When we bought our no dig fence, cedar wood was not an option. And I have to admit, I’m a bit jealous now! I love the looks of this one. These durable rot resistant cedar fence panels come in 34in H x 45.5in W and are available through Walmart and Lowes.
Chain Link No Dig Fence Panels
For a more unitarian (but still stylish!) look, Yardlink also provides a chain link option available through Walmart. These 36in H x 47in W gray steel panels have a galvanized finish that adds durability and helps to resist rusting and corrosion.
Vinyl No Dig Fence Panels
Yardlink’s fourth fencing material option is a 34in H x 45in W white vinyl fence panel. Available at Walmart, it’s a alternative to a traditional picket fence.
How It Works/ Installation
The fence comes pre-made in quick connecting panels. No screws are required – panels, gate, and end units connect together through passing a post through the eyelets on the panel, then spiking the post into the ground. For further installation details (with an installation video from the manufacturer) check out our experience installing the Grand Empire XL fence.
Customer Reviews
The reviews on the Lowe’s website of our Grand Empire XL were extremely positive, with around 90% of reviews recommending these products (as of November 2019). Note that older reviews mention a flimsy lock on the gate. It appears that the lock design has been updated. This updated lock is still not a perfect design in my opinion, but it’s working just fine for our use.

2. WamBam
WamBam offers a wide arrange of fencing options in both Aluminum and Vinyl.
Aluminum No Dig Fence
WamBam offers 2 styles of aluminum no dig fence panels. They are similar in height and both come in black. These are sold directly from the WamBam website.
- Handy Andy: 54 in H x 82 in W
- Slim Jim: 48 in H x 82 in W
Vinyl No Dig Fence Panels
According to their website, WamBams offers an impressive 10 different styles of no dig fence. They range in height from 3 ft (Simple Simon) to 6 ft (Peeping Tom and Steady Freddy), and all come in white. All styles are available on WamBam’s website, with the two shown below – Nantucket and Sturbridge – available through Home Depot and Amazon.
Tip
If you buy no dig fence panels through these two sites, be careful that both Home Depot and Amazon also sell WamBam’s “traditional” vinyl fencing online. These fences does not use the patented No Dig technology. Instead, assembly and installation is required by digging 2ft deep holes and setting the vinyl fence post in concrete. So double-check what you are ordering.
How It Works/ Installation
WamBam fence installs without digging holes or pouring concrete using a unique patented system. This system includes use a special anchoring system with a Leveling Donut and Anchor Positioner to drive pipe into the ground. Posts must be driven into the ground using WamBam’s post pounder options (you can rent one from the big box store, but will require a bit more work and muscle).
WamBam has a TON of videos on their website that dives into their projects – ranging from hard-core technical to just plain ol’e fun. My personal favorite was this one of real-life homeowners installing their vinyl fence. Love all the hand movements of this DIY couple trying to figure out where to install their fence. Reminds me of my husband and I when we were deciding where and how to install our fence.
Customer Reviews
WamBam has reviews directly on their site from both customers and professionals that are extremely positive. Personally I enjoyed how the customer reviews were enhanced with pictures to show how the fence looked in different environments. Online buyers from Amazon and Home Depot also rated these products around a favorable 4 or 4.5 out of 5 stars.
If you are looking for some social proof, these fences have been seen on multiple home shows, including A&E’s “Fix This Yard”, DIY Network’s “I Want That” and ABC’s Extreme Makeover Home Edition.
3. Zippity
Zippity offers both white vinyl and black metal No Dig fencing. You can buy Zippity no dig fence panels directly through their website as well as a handful of familiar third-party vendors, including Amazon, Houzz, Home Depot and Wayfair.
Vinyl Fencing
It seems every year Zippity keeps offering up more and more styles of vinyl fence panels. Here’s a few for consideration:
- All American: 42 in H x 72 in W
- Burbank: 41 in H X 44 in W
- Keswick: 44IN H X 42IN W
- Newport: 36 in H x 72 in W
Metal Fencing
This year Zippity has expanded its offerings to include two sizes of metal garden gates, one standing at 25″ and the other at 39″.
How It Works/ Installation
Installation is very similar to WamBam in that you use a sledgehammer (5 or 10 lb) or a post bounder to drive the posts into the ground. And also similar to WamBam, Zippity’s fence comes to you completely disassembled. Instead of full panels, you have to insert each numbered picket between the top and bottom rails into the locking tabs. This doesn’t seem to take long though, so I don’t view it as a con.
Customer Reviews
There are a handful of homeowner reviews on Zippity’s website, all extremely favorable. The majority of reviews are on Amazon and Home Depot. And similar to the other manufacturers, are rating around 4 and 4.5 out of 5 stars.
Temporary Fence Panels
While this post is focused on more permanent No Dig fencing, I do want to mention that Zippity also has several truly temporary and semi-permanent fencing options. They are not as sturdy as the more permanent ones mentioned above. But if you don’t expect heavy use of your fence, or want a fence excruciatingly easy to remove and re-install, these might be a viable option. The vinyl styles include:
- Madison: 30 in H x 56 in W
- Westchester: 36 H in x 92 in W
- Manchester: 42 H in x 92 in W
- Davidson Hinged: 38 in H X 65 1/2 in W
- Pet or Garden Enclosure: 96 in x 96 in x 30 in
- Bella Puppy or Garden Enclosure: 30 in H X 41 in W
- Ashley: 40 in x 38.5 in x 30 in (corner unit meant to define a subtle boundary)
No Dig Fence Privacy Screens
No dig fence options are also ideal for front yard privacy ideas. The Enclo brand (related to WamBam and Zippity) focuses entirely on privacy screens. Enclo has become extremely popular recently with HOAs requiring homeowners to cover trash bins, people wanting to cover AC units, etc.
- Waverly Screen Kit (White)
- Waverly WoodTek Vinyl Screen Kit (Cedar)
- Belmont Freestanding Lattice Screen with Planter Box
- Bedford WoodTek Vinyl Screen Kit (Available in Charcoal and Cedar)
- Lincoln WoodTek Vinyl Screen Kit (Available in Charcoal and Cedar)
- Charleston Wood Slat Screen Kit
- Richmond Wood Privacy Screen Kit
My Two Cents
After researching on these no dig fence panel options, here’s 3 main points to consider when figuring out which option to purchase:
Ease of Installation
Based on a review of installation manuals, Yardlink fences are installed differently than WamBam and Zippity (who are installed identically). With regards to tools used for installations, Yardlink requires tools likely already in your toolbox. WamBam and Zippity recommend the purchase of a post pounder (around $45-75). But you can use a sledgehammer if you have one lying around the house.
My take-away? Installation for DIYers seems relatively easy for all three of these fences. Plus, if you want an even easier installation (and willing to compromise on a bit of sturdiness), Zippity’s temporary fences are a fantastic option.
Online Reviews
Based on the online customer reviews, it seems you can’t go wrong with any of these companies. All had high marks for their products.
We have Yardlink (previously Ironcraft) fence and love it. And their customer service is phenomenal. When we had an issue with a lock they were quick to respond and called us with updates when there was a delay. I don’t have any experience with the other companies so I have to rely on online research.
Based on the user-friendly design of their website (and fun videos like the Tales from the Dark Side of the Fence), WamBam’s seems very customer-oriented, which would lead me to assume high quality customer service. And considering Zippity has similar ownership it too should have high marks for customer service. So it appears at quick glance all these companies provide quality customer service.
With everything else being equal, I think your choice of fencing ultimately comes down to color and style, height and cost of fence.
Fence Color
If you want black fencing, then Yardlink or WamBam are your options. All are around the same height (4-5ft). WamBam offers a elegant, straightforward style, while Yardlink have a more decorative design. (Note that WamBam fences are aluminum while Yardlink fences are welded steel). In general, prices per square foot are comparable between these fences and all appear to be more cost-effective than vinyl.
However, if you prefer the white vinyl fencing, then all three manufacturers have options. WamBam has a broader range of styles and heights, but not all are available through big box stores or online retailers.
Verdict?
In my (humble average homeowner) opinion, you can’t go wrong in adding instant curb appeal to your house by buying any of these beautiful and easy-to-install no dig fence panels.
